The challenge
Together with in-house teams, we set out to transform an existing UI Kit into a functional design system to harmonize two main products with a consistent design language. The goal was to establish a shared token architecture to support experiments, new features like dark mode, and scalable design practices. This required seamless collaboration with in-house designers and developers without disrupting ongoing product development.
What we delivered
Design token architecture and training
We created the design token infrastructure for the design system, using Tokens Studio. We also trained the in-house design team how to use and maintain design tokens.
Design system building and documentation
We rebuilt and created new components and patterns in Figma, based on the design token set and updated functionalities. We supported with establishing processes in the design team and lean documentation.
Design-to-code pipeline
We established a streamlined process for translating design tokens into code, ensuring consistency across platforms. Designers are now able to push design updates to code, do visual QA and support developers with version control efforts.
Impact & Outlook
We unified two core products by building a robust design token architecture in Tokens Studio, improving platform-wide consistency and unlocking dark mode on a scalable foundation for future updates. We put a design-to-code production pipeline in place to cut handoff friction, speed up delivery, and strengthen designer–developer collaboration in support of ongoing innovation.
